Terms of Engagement
Last updated July 2026
These terms apply to the services provided by Chandru's Business Services Pty Ltd (ABN 28 656 597 787), trading as Chandru's Business Services, a registered tax agent practice (Tax Agent Number 26157538). By engaging us, you accept these terms together with any engagement letter we issue for your specific work. If an engagement letter differs from these terms, the engagement letter applies.
Scope of services
We provide the tax agent and accounting services described in your engagement letter or otherwise agreed with you in writing — typically the preparation and lodgement of income tax returns and activity statements, bookkeeping, and related tax advice. Our work is limited to what we have agreed to do: unless expressly included, it does not extend to audit or assurance work, financial product or investment advice, or legal advice. If your needs change during the year, we will confirm any additional work and its fee before we begin.
Our responsibilities
We will perform our services with competence and due care, acting honestly, lawfully and in your best interests in accordance with the Code of Professional Conduct administered by the Tax Practitioners Board. We will keep your affairs confidential, tell you what we need from you and when, and lodge your returns and statements on time provided you give us the required information promptly. Where the law or ATO practice is uncertain, we will explain the options and the basis of our advice.
Your responsibilities
The accuracy of your returns depends on the information you give us. You are responsible for providing complete and accurate information about your income, deductions and affairs; for keeping the substantiation records (receipts, logbooks, statements) that taxation law requires, generally for five years after lodgement; and for responding to our requests within a reasonable time. You remain responsible for the contents of your returns even though we prepare them, so please review each return before you authorise lodgement and tell us promptly if anything is missing or wrong.
Fees
We work on fixed fees, confirmed with you before any work begins — our pricing page sets out indicative fees for common engagements. If the scope of your work changes, we will agree a revised fee with you before continuing. Unless we agree otherwise in writing, our fee is payable before your return or statement is lodged. Fees include GST, and tax agent fees are generally deductible in the year you pay them.
Lodgement deadlines
As a registered tax agent we can generally access extended ATO lodgement deadlines for our clients. These extensions depend on you being on our lodgement program in time and giving us your information promptly — if you engage us late or information arrives close to a deadline, we cannot guarantee an extension will apply or that lodgement will occur before the due date. Any ATO penalties or interest arising from late or incomplete information you provide remain your responsibility.
Limitation of liability
Our liability is limited by a scheme approved under Professional Standards Legislation. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including under the Australian Consumer Law. We are not liable for losses arising from information that was incomplete, inaccurate or withheld, or from your failure to act on our advice.
Privacy and confidentiality
We treat everything you tell us as confidential and do not disclose your information except as required or authorised by law, or with your consent. Our handling of your personal information, including your tax file number, is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
Termination
Either of us may end the engagement by written notice at any time. If the engagement ends, you are responsible for fees for work completed to that date, and we will return your original documents to you. We may retain copies of records as required by law and our professional obligations, and will continue to keep your information confidential after the engagement ends.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, and both parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.
